Maori Heartwood Pendant
Made of reclaimed wood from demolished buildings damaged in the massive Christchurch earthquake in 2010, this pendant is hand carved with a traditional Maori symbol by Maori master artists.
Suspended from a simple black waxed cotton cord that is adjustable in length up to 24", it can be worn in the shower, at the beach, or anywhere else and is equally popular with men and women. Each necklace comes in a gift box with a card that explains the story of the piece and the meaning of the carving.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this necklace goes to fund the protection of Te Roto O Wairewa [Lake Forsyth] in partnership with the Wairewa Runanga – the Kaitiaki [Guardians] of the Lake.
Pendant measures 1.5" wide and long at the widest point by 3/8" thick at the center, tapering to the edges.
Handmade in New Zealand.
