Broken Sterling Silver Stick Pendant Necklace

Metallurgy verging on alchemy. 

A 3/8" square of sterling silver is rapidly heated then cooled and hammered, shattering the metal into unique shapes as the crystalline structure re-forms, creating the uniquely "broken" texture of this pendant. It is then soldered carefully onto a 2.25" long matte finish sterling silver rail to create a more dramatic drop.

No two pendants will ever be alike since the metal shatters differently every time. The maker is a trained metalsmith who has studied blacksmithing. This classic metalworking technique is rarely encountered in jewelry making. 

The pendant is suspended from a flat link 18" sterling silver chain with a large toggle clasp for easy wear.
