Provincetown Fire Department Hose Fanny Packs

If you loved our tote bags and engineer bags, you're going to love this - designed by me in collaboration with Janelle the maker, customized just for Arcadia. 

These extra large fanny packs are made for daily use wherever life takes you. Made with heavy duty, water resistant waxed canvas and fire hose across the front,  zipper closure, with a wide, fully adjustable strap with a durable quick release clasp, and a cotton canvas lined interior, they are fun, functional, and truly unique. 

Easily large enough to hold even the biggest wallet along with a water bottle, sunscreen, and even a rolled up kikoy (our super popular cotton beach towel/scarves), it's the perfect accessory for a day out on the town or to the beach. 

The yellow stripe across the front is decommissioned Provincetown Fire Department fire hose. Once a hose fails pressure testing, it typically gets thrown away. That's a real shame both because it's nearly indestructible so it will never degrade and also because it's coated with fire retardant, which is bad for the environment. Janelle and her assistants who make these bags carefully strip down the hose, remove the retardant with a solvent soak, and then repurpose the hose into these amazing, functional and beautiful bags.

Janelle is a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and her assistants are all women who are participating in a shelter program for women in abusive situations or in recovery from addiction.

So each bag helps get women back on their feet, repurposes fire hose to keep it out of the waste stream - AND - I donate $3 for each bag to the Provincetown Food Pantry (We donated over $2000 in 2024). Each bag comes with a story card explaining what it's made of and who made it, and also includes an extra cotton bag to encourage the purchaser to fill it with goodies for your local fire house.

Bags measure 9" across by 6.5" tall with a 2.75" bottom. The 1.5" wide rip stop nylon expands to 55" to fit almost anyone, includes an elastic band to hold the extra length, and allows you to also wear it as a crossbody bandoleer or on your waist, however you prefer.
